Yes or No Tarot

One card, one clear answer: yes, no or not yet. It comes from the traditional meaning of the card you draw, so you can ask as often as you like.

Think of a question that can be answered with yes or no.

Hold it in mind for a moment, then tap the card or the button.

The answers follow the traditional meanings of the cards. No AI is used when you draw. The card texts were prepared in advance with AI help. For reflection and entertainment, not medical, legal or financial advice. See the answer of every card

What it is

What is a yes or no tarot reading?

A yes or no reading is the shortest form of tarot. You ask one simple question, draw one card, and the card leans one way: yes, no or not yet.

Each of the 78 cards has a traditional leaning. Bright cards like the Sun or the Star lean toward yes, heavy cards like the Tower or the Ten of Swords toward no, and some cards ask for patience. Whether the card lands upright or reversed matters too.

A good yes or no question is short and honest. The card can show you what you already sense, and the decision stays yours.

Step by step

How to ask a yes or no question

  1. Ask one clear question

Keep it to one thing you can answer with yes or no, such as: Should I apply for this job? A question with two options in it, this one or that one, leaves the card nothing clear to answer.

  2. Draw one card

Hold the question in mind and tap the card. One card is drawn at random from the full deck of 78.

  3. Read the answer and the card

You see the answer, a short reason and the meaning of your card. The meaning often says more than the yes or no itself.

Where the answers come from

How are the answers made?

No AI is used when you draw. Every card has a yes, no or not yet leaning for each orientation, based on traditional meanings from the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition, along with a one-sentence reason and a short meaning. These texts were prepared in advance with AI help. They follow common tarot practice, and the same card, the same way up, always gives the same answer.

When you draw, your browser picks one of the 78 cards at random and decides whether it lands upright or reversed, about three times in ten reversed, as on the other tarot pages. You never type your question, so it stays with you.

The three answers

What do Yes, No and Not Yet mean?

Every card gives one of three answers:

  • Yes. The card supports what you ask about. The energy is open and the timing is good, though it still helps to act on it.
  • No. The card advises against it, or shows that the path you have in mind is blocked. A no can protect you, and it often points to a better way.
  • Not Yet. The door is not closed, but the time is not right. Something needs to grow, settle or become clearer first.
Reading the answer

Getting a helpful answer

A yes or no card is a nudge, not a ruling. These habits make it more useful:

What helps
  • Ask about your own choices, not about what others will do.
  • Read the reason and the meaning, not only the word.
  • Take a Not Yet as advice on timing.
Better to avoid
  • Asking the same question again until you get a yes.
  • Asking about health, legal matters or money decisions.
  • Letting one card replace your own judgment.
Reversed cards

Upright or reversed

A reversed card often weakens or delays its upright answer. The Fool upright says yes to a fresh start; reversed, it warns of a careless leap and says no. Some cards keep their answer either way, and some difficult cards soften from a no into a not yet.

The short meaning under your answer always matches the way your card fell, so you can see exactly what the reversal changes.

Free

Free and unlimited

The Yes or No Tarot is free and has no daily limit, because no AI is used when you draw. Come back as often as you like, though one question at a time works best.

For a fuller picture, try the three-card Past, Present, Future reading, which comes with a written reading. Those AI readings are limited to three a day.

Yes or no meaning of every tarot card

These are the answers behind the draw, for all 78 cards. Upright, 49 cards say yes, 16 say no and 13 say not yet. Reversed, only 5 say yes, and The Sun is the one card that says yes both ways. The linked names lead to the full meaning of the card. All tarot card meanings

Questions about the yes or no tarot

Is yes or no tarot accurate?

Tarot does not predict the future in a way anyone can measure. A yes or no card is a prompt to reflect: it shows a leaning based on the traditional meaning of the card, and your reaction to it often tells you what you were hoping for. Use it for reflection and entertainment.

What kind of question should I ask?

One clear question about yourself that can be answered with yes or no, like: Is this a good time to start something new? Avoid questions with two options in them, questions about other people’s decisions, and questions about health, legal matters or money.

Why did I get Not Yet?

Not Yet means the door is not closed, but the timing is not right. Many cards about waiting, healing or slow growth lean this way. Read the meaning of your card to see what needs to happen first.

Can I ask the same question again?

You can, but drawing until you get the answer you want takes away the point of asking. If the answer surprised you, sit with it for a day, and ask again only when something has changed.

Do reversed cards always mean no?

No. Most cards weaken when reversed, so many upright yes cards become a no or a not yet. But some difficult cards soften when reversed, and a reversed card can turn a no into a not yet or even a yes.

Does the yes or no tarot use AI?

No AI runs when you draw. The answers follow the traditional meanings of the cards and come from a fixed table, so the same card, the same way up, always gives the same answer. The card texts in that table were prepared in advance with AI help. The other tarot pages on Dear Fortuna write a fresh reading with the help of AI each time.

How many times can I draw?

As often as you like. There is no daily limit on the Yes or No Tarot, and you do not need an account.
